Thank you for the interest in my father's photos from Mozambique.
He was general manager for the Gulf Oil Company in Mozambique from 1948-1957. Most, if not all, of the photos relate to the use of DETA to fly people/supplies from Lorenzo Marques out to the field.
I have still to edit and submit the photos I have to airliners.net. You may, of course, post these photos to your portal.
I will include a shot today of the airfield built by Gulf Oil. I would be grateful if you could somehow ask in your portal if anyone remembers this airfield, where it was located (near a town or river), is it still there, etc. I have used google 'satellite' criss-crossing Mozambique looking for the old airfield. I know Gulf's first 5 wells were in the Pemba region (I believe). It was after we left in 1957 that Gulf starting exploring further north. It is possible the field has overgrown with bushes and trees where it is no longer visible.
Quem se lembra onde era a pista? Pande???
Mais uma foto tirada por "Connie" Heggblom, em Moçambique, no principio dos anos 50.
