632 - Faleceu o Cte. Tito Livio Esteves Xavier

Faleceu em Lisboa a 27 de Outubro de 2009 o Cte. Tito Livio Esteves Xavier. Piloto aviador em Moçambique, elemento activo da FAV 304 em Cabo Delgado (Porto Amélia), foi um dos alunos do 1º Curso de Pilotos Profissionais de Helicóptero levado a cabo pela HEPAL (Helicópteros Portugal África) em 1973.

631-Manuel Gustavo da Veiga Frade - Aeroclube da Beira e TAP

Manuel Gustavo da Veiga Frade, residente na Beira desde 1936, chefe de escala da TAP nesta cidade entre 1957 e 1964. Em 1964 foi promovido a delegado da empresa para Moçambique, sendo transferido para Lourenço Marques. Um dos fundadores do Aero Clube da Beira, pertenceu às suas direcções durante vários anos. Como piloto particular, foi brvetado no ACB em 1942. (Já mencionado nos post 65 e 223.

To whom it may concern,

My father, John F. Gormly, was employed by Lockheed Aircraft in the mid1930's as a Mechanic. He was sent to Mozambique to assemble airplanes afterthey arrived by ship. I recently obtained these photos from my sister. She had be saving them all these years. I am doing family history, so everything is searched through and I get the photos.
CR-AAX is a Lockheed 14-H2 Super Electra, Its' C/N (construction number) is1508. It was delivered 2-6-1940. It was named DETA "Limpopo". It crashedat Inhambane November 14, 1941. I have no idea who the gentlemen are in the photo, none are my father. The photo appears to have been taken at the airport (aerodromo da Beira)
CR-AAZ is also a Lockheed 14-H2 Super Electra, its' C/N is 1511. It too wasdelivered 2-6-1940. It was named DETA "Rovumba". Two photos show it inpieces as it arrived off the ship, the third photo show the completedproduct. It was withdrawn from use in 1954. Once again I have no idea whothe are the gentlemen standing in front of the completed airplane, none aremy father.
The website "golden years of aviation" was a great source of informationregarding airlane registrations.

Chamo-me Vitor Santos, fui Furriel Miliciano em Vila Pery de Janeiro de 1971 a Janeiro de 1972 e tirei o Brevet nesse Aero Clube. Tive como instrutor o falecido Rebelo e o prof. Laranjo e um grande amigo, o Campilho. Obviamente voei no Taylorcraft CR-ABZ, na Auster e no Cessna 170. Junto em anexo uma fotografia do CR ABZ, em pleno voo.
